Laurel Honors Veterans with Assembly

Laurel School Honors our Active Duty and Retired Veterans
Posted on 11/12/2018

On Friday, November 9, 2018, Laurel Elementary School celebrated Veteran's Day. Active duty and retired military members within our community shared their experiences with our students. The day began with our Military volunteers sharing in the classroom their experiences in the military. At recess, on the playground, boot camp exercises took place, and in the cafeteria stories were shared over lunch with our students. At the end of the day, the students prepared a special presentation with the help of Mr. McCarthy and Ms. Lewis, our Music teachers. As a special addition, seven selected Second grade students folded the American flag while reciting the reason for the 13 folds of the American flag. This program was a great success for all in which we hope to continue as an annual event. The special day was organized by our Kindergarten teacher, Caryn Pastor, our Music Teacher, Mr. McCarthy and our School Nurse, Beth Dietz, who has an active duty son in the Marines.
